Linda Pedersen Park
6400 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill, FL, 34607
Linda Pedersen Park, officially Linda Pedersen Park at Jenkins Creek, is a Hernando County waterfront park near Weeki Wachee on the Gulf side of the county, along Jenkins Creek. The county describes the property as 135 acres, most of it left as open space, with a developed portion built around the water. The water is the draw. A fishing pier extends over the creek, and a canoe and kayak launch gives paddlers access to the Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail, a route of nearly five miles. The park is well known for manatee viewing and bird watching, and a trail connection runs toward the Weeki Wachee preserve lands. A small swimming area is available, but there are no lifeguards, so swimmers use it at their own risk. The developed area has the amenities families expect from a county park: a playground, picnic tables and grills, restrooms and showers, and a community building. Three pavilions can be reserved through the county's facility rental system, which makes the park a popular place for birthday parties, family reunions and community festivals; the Swampfest arts festival and a seafood festival have been held here. A paved boat ramp with trailer parking is located at the neighboring Jenkins Creek Park, just across the road and reachable by a boardwalk. The park is open from 8 a.m. until sunset. Some areas, including portions of the boardwalk and trails, have been closed from time to time after storm damage, so visitors should check with the county before planning a long outing. Linda Pedersen Park is on Shoal Line Boulevard (County Road 595). For questions or pavilion reservations, call (352) 754-4027 or consult the Hernando County parks pages at hernandocounty.us.
