Mountaineer Coffee
26 S Broad St., Brooksville, FL, 34601
Mountaineer Coffee sits on South Broad Street in downtown Brooksville, and the name is a piece of local history rather than a branding exercise. Co-founder Daniel Pritz named it after his grandfather's shop, Mountaineer Antiques, which traded in downtown Brooksville for over 30 years. Pritz is a West Virginia native and a WVU graduate, which is where the mountaineer comes from. The coffee is roasted locally. The shop describes its beans as sourced, roasted and packaged in Brooksville, which puts it in a different category from a cafe buying wholesale, and it sells those beans alongside the drinks. The menu covers espresso drinks including lattes plus a cold case, and there is a separate room the shop calls the market carrying other products. Order-ahead is available through the company's website, and it sells wholesale as well as retail. This downtown shop at 26 South Broad Street is open every day from 6 AM to 7 PM. Worth knowing if you are navigating by name: Mountaineer Coffee runs several locations around the area, and they keep different hours. There is a Spring Hill shop on Cortez Boulevard open 6 AM to 6 PM, and one in New Port Richey on Bank Street open 6 AM to 7 PM. The company also runs a separate evening venue called Good Time at 500 South Broad Street, further down the same street from the downtown coffee shop, open Monday to Saturday from 4 PM to midnight and Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM. If someone has told you Mountaineer turns into a bar in the evening, Good Time is the place they mean, and it is a different address from this one. Current hours, the bean list and online ordering are at mountaineercoffee.com, and the downtown shop can be reached at (352) 593-5375.
