Ron's Roadside Grille
3220 Broad St, Brooksville, FL, 34604
Ron's Roadside Grille is a small, owner-run barbecue stand on Broad Street (U.S. 41) south of Brooksville. It operates from a compact cinder-block building with a cooking trailer and smoker out back, and has been doing so for years; the Tampa Bay Times profiled it in 2017 for its down-home atmosphere and its daily output of ribs, pork shoulders and wings. Wings are the main event. They are smoked first and then sauced or dry-rubbed, and the choices run from a gold sauce and a sweet heat to a spicy jerk barbecue. Customers praise their tenderness. Beyond wings, the short menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, onion rings, baked beans, crinkle fries, a garlicky pickle wedge, fried corn fritters dusted with powdered sugar, and carrot cake. A chicken Caesar salad also earns praise from reviewers. Most meals fall in the $10 to $20 range. The stand serves lunch only: posted hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it is closed on weekends and Mondays. The restaurant is set up for takeout, with outdoor picnic tables for those who want to eat on site, and Google lists dine-in and delivery as well. The owners announced in June that the stand would close for the summer, and they post updates and specials on their Facebook page, so a call or a quick look at the page is wise before a special trip. The phone number is (352) 754-5005. Ron's Roadside Grille is at 3220 Broad Street in Brooksville.
